It's pretty amazing that you managed to put all this together in such a short time.
I did not finish this - That said, the main mechanic - the lantern - feels great. If you have never played Unbound or Guacamelee - you would prolly like them.
As a prototype, I think this is fine. As an entry into this Game Jam, i think this is Phenomenal. After reading your "Design Document" I'd say you pretty much nailed what you set out to do.
What I get from your prototype is a game that wants to: Look like Animal Well Play like Celete / Super Meatboy But have the experience of a Metroid game.
That's what the Game Design Document is for. Those are three different games, all of which have similar elements, but each of which is it's own unique experience.
The responsive movements and fluid animations are great. The pixel art and lighting are eye catching and do a great job at directing the the player focus and gameplay. Great job!
Outrageously pretty and fantastic feeling game. I love the speed of the character and the smoothness of clicking the lantern on and off. Timing my jumps felt rewarding, especially after failing this puzzle so much. The OST is beautiful. The colors are striking. All this solo-dev'd in a two-week game jam... Are you a wizard?
This is fantastic. Expert use of space. the time didnt overstay its welcome and left me wanting more. it was challenging in a rewarding way. you have alot of talent.
I think there might be an issue with keyboard controls unless I'm missing something very obvious. I can't seem to drop the character below this platform with any keys. I've tried pretty much everything on my keyboard including the obvious ones (down & S), but nothing works.
Thanks! That room at the end was a big spike for pretty much everybody who played it so far, so I've simplified that area for the final version. I appreciate the gameplay video, really useful!
This is really good! The wall climbing feels a little stunted at times, but once you get the feel the platforming was pretty fun, especially in that stretch at the end

Is this the second open well type game?
Wow! It's awesome!
Can't even say it was made for a game jam. Feels really polished!

The music came from a asset pack bundle, so I can't take credit for that! Thanks
Oops, I posted this at like 3am so I just meant soundtrack. Great choice in vibes!
Great game. The controls were very tight and your aesthetic is beautiful. The mechanic was easy to grasp and you did wonders with it.

Wow! this information is very helpful. Patient Portal
Fantastic
Wow, so much polish in this one! Excellent game.
This is great, definitely has huge potential! The level design reminds me of the old Blackthorne game.
Excellent platforming game, would love to see this further developed.
This game is soo cool

Super good
How are you even human for making this in 2 weeks? this is insanely good
thanks! The biggest skill that I'm proud of from experience doing game jams: scope and time management 🤣

That's strange, seems like a bug that has never come up with anybody else. Sorry! I'll keep an eye open if anybody else runs into it.
Ah, I figured out where I was going wrong. I didn't realize I needed to press down *and* jump simultaneously. It does indeed work!
Twilight Lantern Gameplay

good
Very polished game!! :)
Well done! Really nice game
Man, this like the Dark Souls of jumping puzzles! Very well done dude!
I love it, so cute, and the mechanic with the lantern is very nice, kind of unique! Great job!
It's cute. If more is to be added, the difficulty spike definitely needs tapering.

Whoa this is really well done!!
