Action RPG Monsters Asset Pack
A downloadable asset pack
Elevate your game development with my newest premium pixel art sprite asset pack!
Featuring over 20 monster designs, this collection is designed to build out the core of your game's enemy roster. From common bats and slimes-- to an army of marauders with multiple weapons-- to elites featuring multiple states and transition animations, this collection ensures a rich variety of enemies to challenge your players.
Gameplay variety is the primary priority for this pack; in many cases, you can use the assets from a single monster design to make multiple encounters for your game. The included PDF guide suggests ways to make use of the bespoke animations in order to maximize the gameplay potential of these monsters.
Fill your game with this diverse array of enemies, ensuring every encounter is unique and thrilling. Create your masterpiece!
- Over 20 monster designs with variations and animations
- Color variants for each monster-- giving you even more options for your game
- Extras: Includes bonus effect animations
- Includes Gifs and Webm video examples of each monster in action
- Two color palettes available:
- Full color (for general use, compatible with Elements)
- or muted (for use with Time Fantasy)
- NOTE--
These sprites were designed to work with my Time Elements Action RPG asset series. I realized that they work well alongside other styles too, so I didn't brand them with the Elements label-- but if you need hero characters to fight these beasts, Elements is the perfect fit!
- NOTE FOR RPG MAKER USERS--
By default, RPG Maker does not use action combat. These enemies were not designed to work in RPG Maker, especially not with some of the more combat-focused animations. Still-- I have done my best to include versions of the sprite-sheets formatted for use in RPG Maker.
They won't be at their best without additional scripting or plugins; that's up to you and the individual needs of your project.
- NOTE ON THE PDF GUIDE--
This pack includes a lot of monsters with multiple complex animations. Because each monster was designed with unique gameplay behaviors in mind, most have multiple bespoke animations. Therefore I put together this guide to help you understand how best to use all of them.
I've also included the guide as a separate free download (in the "demo" section below)-- this should work well to preview exactly what will be inside the pack itself.
- About the preview gifs...
I developed the art alongside implementing the sprites in a game project to ensure that they were functional in addition to looking good. The preview recordings are from this test project that I made in Game Maker.
The tilesets are from my Time Elements series and are available for purchase. The hero character is a custom sprite for my own use and I don't plan to release it.
This release wouldn't be possible without the support from Patrons. Sign up for more assets like this, including requests and access hundreds of releases in the archive!

- NOTE FOR PATRONS--
Most of these enemies were first shared on my patreon page and are still available there. Because of that, this pack is available as a free patron-access pack (normally the larger releases like this do not have eternal patron-access).
Purchasing this collection directly from this page will be most useful to non-patrons who want to get the whole set at once for immediate use.
😲 That's right! 😲
Patrons get free access to this pack ($10 tier)

How is this different from the various separate Patreon releases?
It includes some bonus sprites and more color variations, but the core content is mostly the same. Generally for patrons who have kept up with the releases, you are right and it's not a necessary purchase. Thanks!
Hi, just subscribed via Patreon! Where can I get the dust clouds featured in the preview animations? Here are the different dust clouds that I can make out in the previews that would be nice to have:
- The player movement dust cloud
- Crab/Pinecoon/Mole throw dust cloud
- Crab pincers particles
- Dust cloud when slime splits
- Dust when marauder gets up
- Dust when marauder walks
- Any other dust particles used in the animation examples
I would really appreciate it!
Welcome :) The dust effects are edits I made, based on this asset pack (really good stuff!) Hopefully that's what you're looking for.
Thanks!
Hi, I downloaded the full Smoke FX pack and I'm now trying to reproduce the animations from the examples, did you use any other packs to make the dust effects or just the one?
I edited them myself, generally by shrinking them and then cleaning it up with some manual pixel fixes. Thanks!
Are the sprites 16x16? And 4 directions?
Edit: is "Every" monster 4 directional? I see some enemies like the moles and the crabs can work with just having the front facing sprites, but something like the tribal enemies in the last GIF seem to only have 3/4th view sprites? That really won't fit in with the 4 directional game I'm trying to make. Thanks
They're based on a 16x16 tilegrid base size. That means that some monster sprites may be larger than a single tile but scale with characters and environments based on that size.
Most of the monsters are not four directional. They're designed for use in full movement-based action-combat systems (like Zelda instead of a turn-based RPG).
Some of the monsters, like the marauders in that gif, have two diagonal directions (up and down) which can be flipped to make four directions for most real-time action combat systems.
If your game is something that specifically requires four cardinal directions for every enemy design (like a tactics system where it matters which grid direction to target), then these monsters might not be the best solution for that project. The human characters in my Elements sets have animations in 4 directions, that might work better for your needs.
Thanks!
Hi! I glossed through the docs, and I AM making an Action RPG, but didn't really think that monsters can have 4 diagonal directions... I will have to sorta think about where my project is headed before really committing to such an expensive (but highly polished) pack. Thanks for the reply!
Hi, I'm thinking of buying your time elements series assets, are you planning to add more monster/bosses in the future and do you do bundle discount sale? Thank you and Excellent Work!
Yes there will definitely be more expansions in the future. As for bundle discounts, yes I usually participate in all of the major seasonal sales. thanks!
Thanks, looking forward to the bundle discounts and new packs for this series. ^ ^
